Picture Poem
A picture poem is a poem relating or about a picture.
Beauty is Only Skin Deep
Her slick ebony hair
casually swirls in her hand
Paints her lips
a glistening crimson red
An ocean lies in her eyes,
brilliant blue beaming
even in the darkest day.
Yet, her beauty reaches
only skin deep,
For her soul is tainted.
She is the
Wicked Witch of the West,
the Wicked Stepmother,
the Wicked Queen.
Vanity paints her face,
a pale, porcelain complexion,
a sneer lurking on her face
upon the abandoned, the poor.
Her stench of greed,
reaking with the scent
of crisp Benjamins,
pollutes the air with jealousy,
leaving desolate faces behind.
She manipulates the world
like a beaten puppet,
but she trembles in the corner,
like a dog
at those whose
beauty seeps
in through the core.
casually swirls in her hand
Paints her lips
a glistening crimson red
An ocean lies in her eyes,
brilliant blue beaming
even in the darkest day.
Yet, her beauty reaches
only skin deep,
For her soul is tainted.
She is the

pollutes the air with jealousy,
leaving desolate faces behind.
She manipulates the world
like a beaten puppet,
but she trembles in the corner,
like a dog
at those whose
beauty seeps
in through the core.

Poetry Literary Explanation
The literary elements used in this piece were simile, alliteration, and theme.
Alliteration- I used alliteration when I wrote " Brilliant blue beaming." The "b" , the first letter of the words, were repeated
in a sentence.
Simile - Simile was used when I compared the world to a beaten puppet and the woman to a dog.
Theme- The theme of the poem was "Beauty reaches only skin deep", hence the title. In this poem, the woman was described to be beautiful and glamorous. However, in the inside, her personailty, she was foul, greedy and vain. She would "sneer" at people who she thought to be a lower status than her, and thought highly of herself.
